A Renaissance Dream

Dear Bloggers,

The lack of blogging is due to extreme amounts of work i'm doing to complete my final major project. I will be back on form just as soon as this is out the way and i can have a life again!
On a positive note though, the second issue of my beloved Book 77 Magazine is well on its way to becoming a reality and is set to go to the printer on Wednesday!! Exciting stuff, until then however, i will be living in an InDesign nightmare! Being the perfectionist that i am, i have to have everything just right which means hours tweaking everything! Why i do this to myself i do not know!
Anyway, getting back to the point of this post, and to avoid anymore precious work time, i came to share some pictures kindly borrowed from ShowStudio that are simply drool-worthy.
It was Alexander McQueen's press day recently in Paris and here's just a glimpse of the spectacle's on show. Inspiration came from Renaissance paintings, marble sculpture, intricate bibles cherubs, angel wings and Hieronymus Bosch. What a dream.

DM Disaster

So Thursday just gone, as some of you may know, was the 50th anniversary of Dr Martens.
Their life began with the 1460 boot which was named so in accordance to their first production date 01/04/1960. As part of their celebrations, which include money off, collaborations with music artists and much more, there was one event which i was very excited about.

A tweet popped up on my trusty blackberry from Wonderland Magazine, telling me about a treat too good to miss. Dr Martens would be selling their famous 1460 boots at the amazing price of £14.60 for one day only at their Flagship store on Neal Street, Covent Garden!
At first i couldn't believe it, it must have been an April Fools joke...but it wasn't!

I was traveling home at 12 on the day of the event, so i knew i had a couple of hours to grab my bargain! So after getting up super early, going through an unnecessary kerfuffle at the station with retarded ticket staff, and dealing with the fact that EVERY ticket machine in London seemed to have simultaneously broke, i made it to Neal Street at 10am - when the shop opened.

I was horrified to see about 100 people already queued up infront of me! Sure i'd expected there to be others there but it was hardly advertised!

So to cut a long story short, i stood in this queue, watched people walk past with their DM bags in their hands, saw some people getting stopped for street style photos, saw a model get scouted, and moved about 200 feet in like 2 hours!

Needless to say, i had to leave the queue to catch my train. My hands missing a pair of DM's, and i was gutted.

On another note, i was totally gonna go to the American Apparel rummage sale until i found out i wasnt going to be in London. Soooo glad i didnt go now! Have you seen the videos?! Geez. I mean, i do like aa, but their stuff really isn't worth attacking a group of police over! Those people were desperate!

These WILL be mine one day!
